EU calls on Everyone to Take into Account all Brexit Scenarios. The EU calls on everyone to prepare for all possible Brexit scenarios because it is not yet clear what the outcomes will be.
The European Commission writes this Thursday in an official statement.
The committee writes that the Brexit will have consequences for citizens, businesses and governments and that therefore proper preparation is necessary.
In whatever way the United Kingdom will leave the EU, it will, in any case, be a distortion of the market, writes the committee.
“The preparation is not only the responsibility of EU organisations but a joint assignment for the entire union.”
Main scenarios
It means that the committee means not only governments and large organisations, but also small organisations and individuals. The EU expects two possible main scenarios.
The first scenario is that an exit agreement between the EU and the United Kingdom will be concluded.
Then there is a transition period of 21 months. Means that from 1 January 2021 the UK no longer falls under EU legislation.
The second feasible outcome is that the EU and the UK do not reach an agreement.
Then there is no transitional period, and the British will no longer be subject to EU legislation from March 2019.
