US President Donald Trump and his Democratic challenger Joe Biden have started their final sprint in the run-up to the presidential election.

They still have seven days to go until Election Day, November 3. Trump travels tirelessly across the country to campaign despite his recent corona contamination.

The 74-year-old Trump has to catch up in the polls, just like he did four years ago. Then he beat Democrat Hillary Clinton by narrowly winning in states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.

There, Barack Obama, a party member of Clinton, won by a large majority in 2012. Trump is also travelling to those states this week to prevent voters there from turning back to the Democrats.

According to observers, the president has a more challenging time due to the corona crisis than in 2016. In recent months, more than 225,000 patients in the US have died from the coronavirus.

Unemployment also rose sharply. Former Vice President Biden has missed an opportunity to make it clear that he believes Trump has messed up the fight against the virus, a topic that dominates election campaigns.

“Anyone responsible for such a death toll should not remain US president,” he noted during the latest election debate.
