Thousands of Iraqis on the Streets for Iranian General Soleimani Funeral. Qassem Soleimani, the top Iranian general who was killed by the United States on Friday in a rocket attack in Baghdad, is buried on Saturday.

American President Trump announced on Friday evening that it was “an action to stop a war, not to start a war.”

Thousands of Iraqis seized to the streets on Saturday for the funeral of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and Abou Mehdi al-Mouhandis, his chief lieutenant in Iraq, who died in an American attack.

They chanted among other things ‘death to America’ and waving Iraqi flags and the flag of the Iraqi Shiite paramilitaries of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), who are supported by Iran.

The funeral parade takes place in the Kazimiya district in Baghdad, where there is a Shiite shrine. This is followed by an official national funeral in the green zone in Baghdad in the presence of many Iraqi leaders.
