“A good start to 2020”, tweeted one of the 49 passengers of a flight from Canadian Montreal to Saguenay last Friday. Immediately after departure one of the aircraft wheels broke down and bounced on the asphalt.
The sober occupant filmed the terrifying scene.
The pilot of the aircraft immediately broke off the 400-kilometre flight after the problem and turned around.
Despite the technical flaw, he managed to get the plane flawlessly to the ground. The rest of the wheels survived the landing without problems. The fire brigade and ambulances called for safety were not necessary.
“Our pilots are trained to deal with situations like this,” said regional spokesman Manon Stuart of Jazz.
“The pilots retained full control of the aircraft.” The aircraft, a Dash 8-300, is now being thoroughly examined and repaired where necessary.
