The Kremlin says that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump should meet soon, a day after a one-and-a-half-hour telephone conversation.
According to a spokesperson, the meeting should be about not only the war in Ukraine but also security in Europe.
Trump said on Wednesday that he had agreed with Putin to start negotiations “immediately” about the war in Ukraine. In three years, this conversation was the first direct contact between the American and Russian leaders.
According to the Kremlin spokesman, Russia and the US want to find a way to end the war. According to him, Trump and Putin have a lot to discuss with each other.
The spokesperson also said that it is too early to tell when the two leaders will meet in person for a bilateral consultation. According to him, preparations are being made for that. Trump expressed his expectation on Wednesday that he will see Putin in Saudi Arabia.
