Federer Drops the Montreal Masters Tournament. Roger Federer only comes into action again in mid-August.
The 37-year-old Swiss announced after his lost final at Wimbledon against Novak Djokovic that he will miss the Montreal Masters Tournament (5 to 11 August).
He only makes his appearance again at the Cincinnati Masters Tournament (12 to 18 August).
He uses that tournament to prepare for the US Open.
Federer has only twice won the Masters Tournament in Canada,
which takes place alternately in Montreal and Toronto.
In 2004 he defeated the American Andy Roddick in the final and two years later Richard Gasquet from France.
Due to his age, Federer is allowed to miss the Master’s tournaments without giving any reason.
