Lovers of the latest electronic gadgets can indulge themselves on Monday. Apple will announce its latest products at its second “event” this fall. Although it is still formally secret, many experts expect the American tech group to develop a new version of its MacBook Pro.
If the media reports are correct, it would be the first time that Apple has released a new design for its popular notebook in five years. In addition, according to the Bloomberg news agency, these are the first models of Apple’s most powerful laptop that no longer run on Intel chips but on processors that Apple has developed itself.
Apple presented these self-designed chips to the general public in November last year. The company has also been developing its own processors for iPhones and iPads for years. By the end of 2022, all computers made by Apple should use their own chips.
In addition to the new MacBook Pro, there is also speculation about a new version of the AirPods, the wireless earbuds that Apple introduced in 2016. However, the Apple Event may be overshadowed by increasing employee criticism of the company’s closed culture. Since this summer under the heading #AppleToo, staff members have been expressing their dissatisfaction with salary differences and lax action against racism or sexism that employees have to deal with.
One of the great pioneers of that movement, Janneke Parrish, was fired by Apple last week. According to the company, this was due to the leak of confidential information, but Parrish denies that. Last month, another critical employee was fired for allegedly failing to comply with the company’s internal guidelines.
