Once again, Australia’s east coast is experiencing heavy rainfall that poses the risk of flooding.

In early March, the same area was hit by severe weather that killed at least 21 people and washed away hundreds of homes and farms.

In some places in the north of the state of New South Wales and the south of the state of Queensland, about 300 millimetres of precipitation could fall in the next 24 hours. Because the ground is already saturated from the previous storm, this could lead to rapid flooding.

In the town of Lismore, one of the places hit hard in early March, people in low-lying areas have been forced to evacuate again.
