Russia has “depleted its stock of precision weapons,” the Ministry of Defense said. He said in a daily intelligence update that Russian troops are using outdated ammunition in Ukraine.

The outdated ammunition is not only less reliable and accurate but also easier to intercept. At the beginning of the invasion, Russia stated that it could hit targets with great precision and limit collateral damage.

However, precision weapons are running out as the war is lasting longer than Russia expected, the ministry said.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov contradicts the information from London. According to the Russian news agency Interfax, he has said Russia has enough high-precision missiles and ammunition so that the army can fulfil all its tasks.

The British argue that Russia will probably struggle to replace the precision weapons. “The invasion has revealed deficiencies in Russia’s ability to conduct large-scale precision strikes. As a result, Russia has subjected cities and towns in Ukraine to intense and indiscriminate bombing with little or no regard for civilian casualties.”
