The Russian Ministry of Defense calls on residents of Kyiv to leave the city via the highway to the southern town of Vasilkov.
According to a spokesperson, this route would be “open and safe”.
The offer partly responds to the Ukrainian authorities’ call to stay at home. Moscow says residents thereby serve as “human shields” for the troops defending Kyiv.
The Russian army again claimed to attack only military targets, although numerous civilian targets were fired on, according to Ukraine. The Russians claim full control over Ukrainian airspace.
