Both the US Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense called Ukraine on Wednesday evening (local time).

 

Foreign Minister Antony Blinken spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitro Koeleba about extra support for the country. Blinken also condemned “the relentless attacks that harm population centres”.

Foreign ministers discussed additional military and humanitarian support for Ukraine in response to the Russian invasion. It is unclear what exactly was agreed.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin called Ukraine Defense Secretary Oleksii Reznikov, according to a Pentagon statement. During this conversation, it is said that “defensive military support” to the Ukrainian army was discussed.
