More than 49.1 million viewers worldwide have tuned in to the high-profile interview of American talk show host Oprah Winfrey with British Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, CBS reports.

According to the American network, this concerns both the television audience and viewers who followed the interview via a stream.

In the interview, the couple, who recently resigned all official duties in the context of the British royal family, expressed accusations of racism, neglect and quarrels within the royal family and the court.

The conversation was broadcast on Sunday by CBS and Monday by the British ITV. The interview was broadcast in the Netherlands on Tuesday evening. It can still be viewed on streaming platforms.

According to CBS, this is a provisional viewing figure because reruns of the interview are still being broadcast. It can be seen again in the United States on Friday. US viewership accounted for 17.8 million of the total viewership.

According to CBS, the interview was the most-watched special broadcast since the Oscar ceremony in February last year.
