Hearings in the extradition case of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will not resume until September. The exact date and location will be determined later, the London court announced.

The case revolves around an extradition request from the United States.

They want to prosecute 48-year-old Assange for publishing secret material about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq via the whistleblower website.

Assange has been unable to move freely for years because of his legal problems. He hid in Ecuador’s embassy in London in 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden. There, the authorities suspected him of sexual abuse.

The WikiLeaks founder ended up in the diplomatic post for seven years, until the government of Ecuador showed him the door. He then ended up in a British cell for fleeing to the embassy while on parole.

Earlier this year, the British judge refused to release Assange on bail while handling his extradition case.

The court feared that the Australian would run away again. The case has since been temporarily shut down due to the corona crisis.
