A White House employee has tested positive for the new coronavirus, US President Donald Trump reported Wednesday.

According to Trump, the employee has not been near him and the person is not directly related to him.

Trump’s announcement comes a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and foreign ministers of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates ceremonially signed a peace deal at the White House.

Trump’s spokesman Kayleigh McEnany said the identified contamination case had “no bearing” on the ceremony and that the infected employee has not been near reporters.
